Introduction to BLOCK Coding for PADUCAH CITY STUDENTS GRADES 6-10

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27
3:15-5:00 pm

Basics of BLOCK Coding. 1 day class for 6th -10th grade students.
Students will be engaged in the Basics of BLOCK coding and JAVA language. A variety of BLOCK coding software will be introduced with guided instruction. Students will then be challenged to solve challenges with BLOCK code. Students are welcome to bring their own computer. Otherwise, a computer will be provided for their use during the class. $5 per student.

 

3D Printing Using TinkerCAD

Basics of 3D printing using TinkerCAD for PADUCAH CITY STUDENTS grades 3-5

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 29
4:00-6:00 PM

Students will learn the basics of 3D print design using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and the basics of computer aided manufacturing (CAM). No prior experience is necessary. Students will be guided to design a 3D object, digitally slice the object, set up a 3D printer, and 3D print their object to take home with them.

Students are welcome to bring their own computer. Otherwise, a computer will be provided for their use during the class.

Registration: Seating is limited for this class. Please secure your seat by fully completing the registration process. Please note: the $5 registration fee is non-refundable.

Coding in Action! – Block Coding for Paducah City Students Grades 6-10

Coding in Action! Level II BLOCK Coding – 1 day class for 6th-10th grade students. Students will be challenged to apply the skills they worked on in “The Basics of BLOCK Coding” class to program a SPHERO robot to complete a task of maneuvers using BLOCK coding conditional statements. $5 per student.

Intro to Virtual Reality- 1 day program for 3rd- 5th grade students. Students will engage in an introduction to VR. They will learn how to set the headset up, learn how to manipulate it, and explore different apps. Students will see the benefits of virtual reality and how they expand learning for individuals$25 per student.

Coding for Paducah Teachers- 1 Day event. This coding for teachers program will help teachers understand what students are talking about when they say they are “coding”. Teachers will create an animation on screen, as well as code a robot to demonstrate basic operations$10 per teacher.

 

Unmanned Aircraft System

Unmanned Aircraft Systems (DRONES) FOR PADUCAH CITY STUDENTS GRADES 9-12

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27
2:30-4:30 PM

Unmanned Aircraft Systems (Drones) – 1 day class for 9th-12th grade students. Students will learn the basics operations and maneuvers of unmanned aircraft systems (DRONES). Students will learn vocabulary and importance of basic flight operations. $5 per student.

 

Robotics and Coding with Spheros

ROBOTICS AND CODING WITH SPHEROS FOR PADUCAH CITY STUDENTS GRADES k-2

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27
4:00-5:30 PM

Robotics and Coding with Spheros – 1 day class for K-2nd grade students. Students will engage in robotics and coding through the use of sphero robots. Students will learn to operate and code the robot, as well as send it through an obstacle course that they designed. $25 per student.
